Elon students celebrate Mardi Gras

To many, the legendary festival held annually in New Orleans defines Mardi Gras. The celebration originally served a distinct religious purpose, one with far purer purposes than those adopted by the bead-strewn revelers seen every February in the streets of The Big Easy.

Men's basketball stomps on winless Blue Hens, 83-56

The Elon University men’s basketball team did what it should do, beating the winless-in-conference University of Delaware 83-56 Thursday night in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Blue Hens (5-17 overall, 0-11 CAA) struggled mightily in the first half, scoring just 11 points on 5-23 shooting.

It survived nearly 240 years. But according to Robert P. Jones, CEO of the Washington DC based Public Religion Research Institute, white, Christian America is at a foreseeable end. In an event sponsored by The Elon Center for the Study of Religion, Culture, and Society, Jones spoke on the future of American racial and religious demographics and how they pertain to the upcoming election.

Football promotes Madden to defensive coordinator

During his interview for the Elon University football team’s National Signing Day festivities, head coach Rich Skrosky revealed that Pat Madden had been promoted from defensive line coach to defensive coordinator. The move comes less than a week after the team announced the retirement of Jerry Petercuskie after two seasons as the defensive coordinator.

Skrosky says new class will be vital in program's progression

Elon University football head coach Rich Skrosky hinted that the future of the program is arriving in the present with Elon’s 22 new signees Wednesday. “I’ve made no secret about it, this class and last year’s class, together, that is going to be the cornerstone of the program moving forward,” Skrosky said.
