Theater dorks rejoice – TV grants us another musical!

For us Broadway fans, it felt like our unspoken dreams were finally heard in 2009 when Fox premiered “Glee,” its show about a high school glee club featuring multiple musical performances an episode. Aside from the occasional movie-musicals (2008’s “Mamma Mia” atrocity doesn’t count), we theater kids previously had to actually visit the theater to see musical performances of Broadway quality.

The modern day confessional

Go into any college dorm room and piles of textbooks litter the floor. But when it comes to a guide to life and how to make it through, students are often on their own.  And when it comes to dealing with the harder issues, many students are at a loss. Emotional issues used to be discussed at the family dinner table, or for many, answered in church.  But where are students turning now? The anonymity of the site generates honesty and connections, but are people really getting the support they need? Relief of honesty and restrictions of anonymity Megan McCarthy, a sophomore at Elon, had an opportunity to hear Warren present his initiative in high school. “What struck me the most was that so many people were willing to stand up in a room of hundreds of people and admit secrets that they have never told anyone,” she said.

The Pendulum welcomes student representative

The philosopher Voltaire once said, “Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers.” On a campus where dorms are always changing, 10 year plans are expanding and the student body is continuously growing, we are used to having a lot of questions as Elon students. But, do we ask the questions when we have them?

Less is More: A journalist's struggle to keep it concise

Hey, everybody, and welcome to a Tuesday in the life of senior reporter Mary Kate Brogan. My main focus for this blog post is TMI. TMI stands for too much information, often used when someone says something too personal or awkward. In my case, it's not necessarily that I say things that are too personal or awkward, I just tend to give everyone too much information in my stories, both verbal and journalistic.
