As we sat in the crowded Moseley Student Center, I felt myself look around the room cautiously before quietly answering “Yes.” I have been using counseling services on and off ever since I first got to Elon.

Softball outfielders pushing each other to success

The Elon University softball team is littered with quality hitters up and down, with six starters batting .300 or better and three more slugging .500 or higher. But Elon’s typical second and third batters in the lineup — junior outfielder Alaina Hall and sophomore outfielder Kara Shutt — have stood out with their bats and gloves.

Column: Baseball offense finds new contributions ahead of CAA play

Two unlikely heroes rescued the Elon University baseball team’s weekend from falling into the ground. A pair of infielders, senior Danny Lynch and freshman Ryne Ogren, provided the necessary sparks that led to two victories against The Citadel, bringing the Phoenix to .500 for the first time this season. Elon lost 13-8 to the Bulldogs on March 11 in poor fashion — the Phoenix handed the game away.

Change, no matter how minor or drastic, is a terrifying concept. Even the bravest people can admit that change is scary, but it is important to also see the beauty and excitement that can result when change occurs. Elon is currently going through a number of changes.

Senior works as a the first student bartender at Tony's Pubs-and-Subs

Students across the country are used to early mornings and late nights. Most students have long hours of schoolwork during the day and go out with friends Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights to blow off steam and destress after a long week.  Senior Valerie Reich is the first student at Elon to get a job at Tony’s Pub-N-Subs where she spends Wednesday and Thursday nights bartending.

Clinton dominates North Carolina primary, Trump edges out Cruz

There were few surprises in Tuesday's North Carolina primaries. Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton got nearly 55 percent of the votes, defeating Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) by 13.8 percent. On the Republican side, businessman Donald Trump defeated Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), but he only won by 3.4 percent.

Student research discovers suspected cause of plant disease

During his freshman year, now-senior Billy Impagliazzo took two classes taught by biology professor Antonio Izzo. When he got to Elon, Impagliazzo said he knew he wanted to take part in research projects. In his sophomore year, Impagliazzo went to Izzo to discuss research opportunities he had in his lab. Izzo said he believed Impagliazzo would conduct research for only a semester, but almost three years later, Impagliazzo has identified the main microbe infecting the blue curls plant and has presented his research on SURF Day.

Elon student digs into Burlington’s past after historic hotel demolition

The Rockefeller Integrated Hotel stood on Burlington’s Maple Avenue before being demolished a few weeks ago. Created by McBride “Mack” Thompson, a prominent African American entrepreneur in the Jim Crow South, the hotel was both his home and a place for Black travelers to stay somewhere safe. A single box of papers was recovered from the demolition site by a neighbor. Marshall Sears, a sophomore researching African American entrepreneurship in Petersburg, digitizes documents including those found in the demolition, as a part of his undergraduate research.
