The Painter’s Roost allows guests to paint, socialize in eclectic atmosphere

Anita O’Donnell spends her days in a quaint, light-filled space surrounded by uniquely refurbished furniture and a paint-splattered floor. O’Donnell, owner of The Painter’s Roost which was recently established on Huffman Mill Road, offers people of any age or skill level the opportunity to improve one’s painting abilities. Upon walking into the store, one is overcome by the homeyness that characterizes the painting studio — the bright color palette of the interior and the studio’s eclectic rooster decor immediately transports customers to an old country farmhouse. For $25-$45 per person, each customer is supplied with necessary materials such as brushes, a canvas, an easel and paint to complete their own masterpiece.

Students React to Offensive Posters Around Campus

During one of Elon's busiest weekends, fellows weekend, students are usually handed out packets of information about our school. This time, they also found flyers on the windshields of their cars. The flyers were in response to the racial slur note that was posted around campus earlier this week. Elon Local News got student reactions to that offensive content. The North Carolina Supreme Court voted 3-3 this month on a North Carolina Court of Appeals ruling that North Carolina Public Records Law is not applicable to state-commissioned police departments of private universities within the state.

Freshman duo grows up fast for Phoenix

In a season defined by adjustment, opportunity and growth, two rookies have helped steady Elon women’s basketball when it mattered most. Freshman center Tamia Watkins controls the paint and freshman guard Ashanti Fox controls the pace. The rookies have combined to earn Coastal Athletic Association Rookie of the Week honors for four straight weeks, going back to Jan. 19.

Elon Town Council approves Elon University tax amendment, ordinances, resolutions

Elon Town Council discussed a tax amendment, approved its audit contract, and passed an ordinance for its purchase of property at 112 Orange Dr. The agenda for the meeting stated the property was at 112 Orange St., but this is incorrect. Elon Mayor Emily Sharpe wasn’t present for the meeting. Mayor pro tempore Monti Allison presided over the meeting Feb. 23.
