Aramark looks to learn from past mistakes at Elon, gain back student trust

Under the guidance of a recently hired manager, Aramark has added new options in an effort to learn from last year’s mistakes — undercooked chicken, a moldy ice bin and a litany of other health code violations. Pulkit Vigg, Aramark’s new resident district manager for Elon University, has been thinking big since he left a position at Mississippi State University and joined Elon last spring.

Elon Core Curriculum replaces General Studies program

An overhaul of general studies courses at Elon University has resulted in a new Core Corriculum, which will take effect this fall. According to Jeffrey Coker, director of the Core Curriculum, the changes are mostly just in the name, but there are also some changes to the General Studies — GST -— seminar courses.  The new Core Curriculum offices in the Global Neighborhood will hopefully forge the way for interaction and integration, Coke said.

Elon releases 2014 cross country schedule

It took until ten days before the season starts, but Elon University has finally released its 2014 cross country slate. Elon is under the leadership of new head coach Nick Polk, who was hired last week after Christine Engel left at the beginning of the month to become the head women's cross country coach at Duke University. The schedule was pretty much set when Polk arrived. "That was pretty much pre-made," Polk said.

Elon volleyball slated last in CAA preseason poll

RICHMOND, Va. — The Elon University volleyball team was projected to finish ninth — last place — in the Colonial Athletic Association's preseason coaches poll released by the league Tuesday. Elon enters its first year in the CAA after 11 years in the Southern Conference.

Faith Rivers James' New Position at Elon Law

Professor of Law Faith Rivers James has been named Elon University School of Law's first associate dean for experiential learning and leadership. As the director of leadership programs at Elon Law since 2012 and the creator of the school's Public Law and Leadership course, Rivers James has the necessary experience for this role. "Faith Rivers James has been instrumental in building signature programs at Elon Law, including the law school's nationally recognized leadership and attorney mentor programs," said Elon University School of Law Dean Luke Bierman in a statement released by Elon University.

Nick Polk named Elon head cross country coach

One week after formally announcing the resignation of Christine Engel, Elon University has found a new head cross country coach. Elon director of athletics Dave Blank announced Wednesday evening that Nick Polk will take over the reins of both the men's and women's cross country teams, along with being an assistant women's track and field coach. Engel left to become the head women's cross country coach at Duke University. That move was announced last Wednesday, Aug.

Daniel Lovitz ('13) thriving with Toronto F.C.

Former Elon midfielder Daniel Lovitz, now a rookie with Major League Soccer's Toronto F.C., has taken steps in his career he never thought possible just eight months ago. Leading up to the MLS SuperDraft in January 2014, Lovitz, who graduated from Elon in 2013, was not sure he would even hear his name called.
