The Board of Commissioners is composed of five elected officials who serve as the governing body of Alamance County. Board members serve four-year terms, and elections for the board are held every even-numbered year.
Unlike President Connie Book, Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley and other administrators at the university, the Board of Trustees rarely faces the public. The board is composed of Elon graduates, donors and other important members of the surrounding community and nation who pool their thoughts and resources in an effort to further the university’s commitments and goals.

Every year Elon community members gather outside of the Alamance Building for the annual Festival of Lights. The celebration, in part, is a way to honor donors to the school by lighting lanterns and placing them along the pathways of the university.
While students were away from campus, Elon was still alive and preparing for the final push to finish the semester. Check out some of the top shots from over break and the week before including basketball games, repairs and student activities.

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro Police Department reported an off-campus shooting at Great Stops, a convenience store located less than a mile from UNCG's main campus.

After U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided a mobile trailer park on South Church Street in February, local residents in Alamance County were affected by the state's crackdown on illegal immigration. More than 200 targeted arrests occurred across North Carolina, including the trailer park raid.
With students returning to campus from Spring Break expecting to be met with sunshine and shorts weather, they were met instead with flurries and sleet that damped the blossoming campus.
