New quick sticks reinforce championship drive for lacrosse

There is a new leader behind the crease for Elon University’s women’s lacrosse. Two main point scorers led the team last year: sophomore Mae McGlynn and freshman Kaley Thompson. Current freshman midfield/attack Hannah McCarthy is taking up a major role on offense.

Lacrosse downs Campbell in season opener for second year in a row

Elon lacrosse (1-0) routed the Campbell University Camels 12-5  (0-1) for its season opener against on Saturday afternoon. The Phoenix repeated dominance from last year’s opener when they defeated the Camels 15-5 on the road.

The past, present and future of the JMU & Elon rivalry

In 2014, Elon University left the Southern Conference to join the Colonial Athletic Association. The James Madison University Dukes joined the conference in 1985 and in recent years have been the dominant name in the CAA in nearly all sports. JMU joined the CAA during its inception in 1979 and since then have collected 88 conference championships across 18 D-1 sports. The Phoenix and Dukes have become unofficial rivals in the past five years due to close matches, back and forth series and connecting storylines.
