‘We Will Rock You’ combines Queen music and the struggle for individuality

Elon University’s upcoming performance of “We Will Rock You,” guest-directed by Paul Stancato, explores themes of non-conformity and oppression in a dystopian society. By the end of the night, audiences will get to experience a rock concert with all the hits from British pop rock band Queen.

Village Juice Co., located above McEwen Dining Hall, is Elon’s favorite food option for vegan students or those who want a healthier breakfast or lunch. Students on a Block meal plan can use a swipe at Village Juice. With its wide array of options, they can choose from several smoothies, grain bowls, salads and more.

Even though the renovated McEwen Dining Hall has only been open for about a year, it has quickly become Elon students’ favorite spot for breakfast. Right by Historic Neighborhood and a short walk from Global Neighborhood, McEwen has an assortment of different breakfast options for students.

SGA adds National Pan-Hellenic Senator position this fall

This fall, the Student Government Association added a National Pan-Hellenic Council senator position, which was filled by senior Arianne Payne. This position was added in the hope of better representing the interests of historically black sororities and fraternities at Elon University. In the past, Greek life was only represented by an Interfraternity Council senator and a Panhellenic senator.

N.C. House Bill could increase ICE presence in local communities

The North Carolina House passed a bill this month that would require county sheriffs' departments to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Currently, sheriffs' departments have the authority to decide whether or not to work with ICE when they receive immigrants.

NC governor vetoes "Born-Alive" abortion bill

RALEIGH — North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper vetoed a bill that would have required doctors to save the lives of infants who were born after an attempted abortion, according to a letter his office sent last Thursday. The “Born-Alive” bill passed through both the state House and Senate but will not go into effect because it was stopped by the governor’s veto.

The CREDE celebrates Multiracial Awareness Week

For the first time at Elon University, the Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education will be presenting Multiracial Awareness Week, providing several events to recognize students who identify as mixed race. Kiah Glenn, assistant director of the CREDE, organized the week, which began March 4 and will end March 8.
