Elon Tonight's 'fresh start' brings crowd for premiere

Standing room only was the theme of the evening at Elon Tonight's season three premiere. The student-produced sketch comedy show had its first showing of the academic year at 9 p.m.

Shedding those holiday pounds

Each New Year, people around the country make resolutions to lose weight, get fit and become healthier.  Students at Elon University are no different.  The result?  Gym and fitness center traffic increases dramatically after students return to campus for winter term. I spoke to Ross Venturi, campus recreation team leader for fitness, who said choosing a time of day to work out during winter term is key.

'A' is for 'Average': Student GPA on the rise

Following the recent trend in distinguished grades at Elon University, 25 percent of grades given during the fall 2010 semester were A's while 12.8 percent were B's, bringing the standard GPA to 3.17. Steven House, provost and vice president for academic affairs, said his worries are more centered on the rise of A's and B's among students rather than the increased GPA. "The average grade percentage being 3.17 doesn't really bother me at all," House said.
