OPINION: AI poster competition proves Elon has entered AI psychosis

Elon University’s School of Communications and Love School of Business held the “Make Your Mark” artificial intelligence poster competition. The first of its kind on campus, the event drew the attention and ire of art and communications students. It featured a $650 prize pool and was held in three parts: a training session March 31, the competition April 2 and the award ceremony April 3. The outrage lasted the entire week. Has Elon entered an AI psychosis?

OPINION: You should be keeping up with the partisans

Why hate some politicians when you can learn to hate them all? This is the half-ironic question that ricocheted in my mind as circumstances dictated that the story I’d been working on for a few would have to take a new angle. My original plan had been to attend an Elon College Republicans meeting and get a sense of how the Grand Old Party’s future representatives were handling the latest release of the Epstein Files, along with the various other misgivings of the current administration.

Elon University chair of Department of Performing Arts dies

Performing arts students were told early Wednesday afternoon that professor and chair of the Department of Performing Arts Fred Rubeck died May 6. Co-chair of the performing arts department Kirby Wahl notified students via a Moodle announcement.

New HealthEU building sees phased construction process

The new HealthEU building, recently named the Slattery Center, has reached its tallest point as it nears its anticipated grand opening in fall 2026. On the north side of the building, facing the Colonnades Neighborhood, workers have begun laying the traditional Elon red brick on the structure's outer walls. The south side has a finished structure, but no exterior walls have been added as of May 5.
