Spoon University's brings newest chapter to Elon

As Elon University students mindlessly scroll through Facebook, they often stumble upon recipe and food related articles and videos from outlets like BuzzFeed or Food Network that their friends have shared.  Students now have the opportunity to publish or view similar articles written by their peers with a college twist on Spoon University, a food resource for millennials. Freshman Jordan Hsu, senior fashion reporter for The Edge, junior Meredith Taylor and junior Caroline Peyser have worked to bring a Spoon University chapter to Elon.  “Spoon University is basically an online platform for students to get connected and be connected around food," Hsu said. "It provides written content including written articles, videos, great pictures and recipes.

Junior women's basketball player shoots way out of struggles

After missing 37 shots in a row, junior guard Maddie McCallie could have allowed her struggles to control her thought process when she had a shot. But her teammates on the Elon University women’s basketball team wouldn’t let that happen. “She’s a shooter,” said junior guard Essence Baucom. “We always tell her we have confidence in her and to keep shooting. That’s what she did.”

'Light in the Piazza' explores love in Florence, Italy

After re-watching the original Broadway production of “Light in the Piazza,” Linda Sabo, associate professor of performing arts, was inspired to recreate an overall sense of the theme. Elon University performing arts students put there own twist on the characters but maintain the elements from the original show.

As a crucial part of Elon University’s progression in diversity and growth, the African-Americans who made history cannot be forgotten. Belk Library is commemorating many of these individuals through a display of various African-Americans who were some of the first of their race to attend Elon.

Burlington announces rebranding and redevelopment of downtown

Tuesday night, set on the backdrop of the historic Paramount Theater, The Burlington Downtown Corporation Board of Directors and Brand Development Team at Greensboro-based Bouvier Kelly announced their plans to both rebrand and revitalize downtown Burlington.
