Sunday Sweep: Don't Ask, Don't Tell
Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has been the subject of many heated debates in recent weeks. But, even though the policy is now technically repealed, gay troops still don’t have equal rights.

One of the four functions of a newspaper is to serve as the watch-dog of the government. The recent apology letter from Taylor Martin, SGA executive president, criticized student media coverage of SGA happenings.

At the Jan. 24 Elon University budget forum, the budget committee proposed a salary pool of two percent, which will go toward raises for faculty and staff members. According to Tim Peeples, associate provost of academic affairs, one percent of the salary pool is distributed to faculty and staff members who have completed all necessary tasks required of them. The other one percent is used for merit and is distributed to faculty and staff members who have done excellent work. Peeples said the merit system acts as a motivator and helps reward faculty and staff members for excellent work. According to Peeples, the salary was not raised much this past year due to the conditions of the economy. The slight increase in tuition, however, now allows for a salary pool. Peeples said the primary method for adjusting compensation for faculty and staff members comes through a salary increase.

Too bad money doesn't grow on trees. This week, after speaking with various administration heads, it is evident that Elon University is in budget mode.

After my second-ever production night, I can’t even begin to fathom how newspapers were printed back when type had to be set by hand.
Sunday evening was one of the best hockey moments in my entire life. I’ve had a few special hockey moments.
The first thing I heard at the NHL-All Star Game SuperSkills Competition was a guy asking for extra tickets.
Editor's Note: The Pendulum's resident hockey expert, Zach Horner puts in his two cents about Friday night's All-Star Draft, and where he sees each player going, as captains Nick Lindstrom and Eric Staal make their picks. You can tune in to the live draft on Versus at 8 PM on Friday night to see for yourself! Let me just go ahead and say ahead of time that I will probably be wrong about a lot of this.
