Marathon bombs resemble more sports disturbances

When tragedies such as the Boston Marathon bombing, the September 11 attacks and the various shootings in recent years occur, sports often act as a distraction. After the 9/11 tragedy, I remember well Mike Piazza’s game winning home run against the Atlanta Braves 10 days after the attack.

The Paladins clawed, scrapped and battled, refusing to go down as easily as they did on April 7 in Greenville, S.C., a 5-2 Elon win. “We knew it was going to be a little bit tougher to beat Furman this time because in the tournament everyone wants to win,” said Elon head coach Elizabeth Anderson.

A letter to the Obama administration

Dear Editor, It amazes me how bad President Obama’s policies are for the global economy. One thing I find absolutely appalling is his position on putting the burden of our government overspending on American companies.

Student babysitters find rewards in traditional job both on, off campus

Furniture, apartments, textbooks, clothing and even pets are among the most common items on E-net’s Want Ad page. But below the television stands, riding lawn mowers and used textbooks, it’s not unusual for students to advertise their services as babysitters and pet sitters. Babysitting may seem like the easiest option for college students who need money, but according to junior Michelle Lewandowski, it can be difficult to balance the strains of college life with such a taxing job. “I have to drive to the job, which is not as convenient as an on-campus job,” Lewandowski said.
