Town of Elon council approves new residence hall

Beginning in June 2023, Elon University will be home to an additional residence hall in East Neighborhood. The new building will have 90 beds as well as a common area for students located at the front of the building. The building plans, presented by Elon University architect Brad Moore and town of Elon Planning Director Lori Oakley, were approved by the town of Elon council Oct. 24.

OnTrack to undergo updates Nov. 1

Held on the first floor of Belk Library, students were invited to Writing Isn’t Scary, where they had friendly discussions about what scares them about writing.

The debate over abortion rights has become inseparable from this year’s midterm election campaigns, with 50% U.S. voters reporting they are more motivated to vote this fall because the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, according to recent polling from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Elon Law’s associate director of career development elected to leadership role with Hispanic Bar Association

Elon Fire Department aided Graham in controlling mill fire

The city of Graham Fire Department responded to a building fire at 300 East Parker St. in Graham at 9:18 p.m. Oct 11. The Graham Police Department was first to arrive on East Parker Street, but throughout the night, it was joined by additional fire and police departments from across the county, including Mebane, Haw River and Swepsonville. The Elon Fire Department came to Graham’s aid as part of the County-Wide Tanker Task Force. It was called in by the incident commander to bring water to the scene to combat insufficiencies in Graham’s north side water system.

Storage Scholars to appear on Shark Tank

Moseley airport shuttles return for Fall Break

Elon University study abroad participation spikes as pandemic lessens

After two years of interrupted travel, Elon University’s study abroad program saw an increase in participation in 2021-22, according to the Elon Experiences annual report. This year, 1,307 students studied abroad in comparison to the 91 students in the 2020-2021 academic year.

NC Senate candidates Ted Budd, Cheri Beasley debate for first time

Ted Budd and Cheri Beasley, North Carolina’s two major candidates for U.S. Senate held a debate Oct. 7 where they discussed inflation, immigration and health care. The debate was hosted by Spectrum News 1 in Raleigh.
