Local Elon businesses are decking their windowsills with lights, tinsel and holiday puns all with the hopes of winning the best window display.
The shops lining North Williamson and West Lebanon Avenues are competing for a cash prize of $250 and a banner announcing the winner. The competitors include Tangent Eat + Bar, The Root, Pandora's Pies, All That JAS and Simply Oak.
Shop owner Michaelle Graybeal said this gave her an excuse to amp up the holiday spirit in All That JAS. “We went the extra mile this year," Graybeal said. "We really went out on a limb with extra glitter which sort of reflects us as a store.” Graybeal said she hopes they'll hold this competition every year.
The window competition is being put on by the Downtown Corporation, and sponsored by the town of Elon.
