Elon students gathered tonight in the Moseley Center’s student commons to hear the results of the 2016 SGA elections. Candidates listened intently as current senior class President Sean Barry and senior class Vice President Robert Danis announced the winners.

While a plethora of results were announced, one race has yet to be determined.

Because the winner of the SGA Executive President requires a majority of votes — 50 percent plus one vote — the SGA Constitution requires that other executive races be won by a majority of votes (50 percent plus 1.) If that is not the case, as it is in this election, there must be a runoff election between the two top vote earners. Kyle Porro and Steven Armendariz placed first and second respectively and will participate in a runoff election tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The results of the runoff election will be announced at 5:15 p.m. tomorrow in Moseley commons.

This year’s Academic Council winners include Elena Goldman for the School of Education, Suraj Minisandram from the School of Communications, Lauren Scott and Maddie Tringale shared winning for the Elon College, The College of Arts and Science ballot and Jacqueline Fronheiser and Andrew Nemnich won for the Love School of Business.

For the Class of 2019, Reny Barrett and Jordan Levine won the senator positions,  Elyse Cowles won the secretary position, Edward Staten won the treasurer position, Sophie Zinn won the vice president position and Kenneth Brown, Jr. won the president position.

For the class of 2018, Taylor Chadwick won the senator position, Morgan Bodenarain won the vice president position, and Rachel Hobbs won the president position.
