Farewell to Elon's class of 2013

In just a few short weeks, Elon’s Class of 2013 will be leaving the “Elon bubble” and venturing out into the real world.  Over the past few years, they have taken classes, led organizations, traveled the world and grown into the people they are today. Plans for the future From the East Coast to the West, Elon students will be spread out all over the country, pursuing their dreams.

A decade of change: Class of 2017 represents ‘new Elon’ compared to Class of 2007

On Aug. 28, the class of 2017 will start their first day at Elon University as one of the largest freshman classes in Elon’s history. It was only 10 years ago when the class of 2007 stepped onto campus for the beginning of their college journey. But much at Elon has changed in the span of a decade, and the Elon known to students 10 years ago is radically different from the university incoming freshmen will find in fall 2013. “Elon has made lots of changes, from raising more money, to adding additional buildings, to more alumni involvement,” said Melanie May, Communications Manager for Admissions at Elon.

Weed. Pot. Grass. While I am all for a new green initiative, I don’t think we need to add these words to our everyday vocabulary. As college students, we have a strong attraction to what we aren’t supposed to do.

Don't ruin my dinner

I don't like marijuana. I don't like the smell that stays in your clothes. I don't like trying to eat dinner at my friend's house after a shift delivering pizza, only to have a cloud of smoke get blown in my face when I go to take a bite. But what I really don't like is misinformation.

‘Little things’ cost Elon sweep of Samford

A couple passed balls, a couple mental plays and the “little things,” according to acting manager Greg Starbuck, were the downfall for the Elon University baseball team Sunday May 12 on senior day and the regular season finale against Samford University. Looking to end the season with a five-game winning streak, which would have matched a season-high, the Phoenix battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the first inning to lead 3-2 through four innings.

SGA Senate Recap: May 9

At the last SGA Senate meeting of the semester, the Senate debated a resolution to support Scouts for Equality, an organization working to change the Boy Scouts of America’s LGBTQ policy and create and inclusive environment for all individuals who wish to become Boy Scouts.

Review of Carolina Rebellion 2013: While third time was not the charm, participants not discouraged

For the third year, Carolina Rebellion, a North Carolina rock festival, returned to Charlotte May 4-5 at the Motor Speedway in Concord. But some might say Carolina Rebellion could not compare to the notoriety and organization of other festivals in North Carolina, such as MerleFest, and across the nation, such as Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. From the beginning of the day, fans were worried about whether the show would pull through, considering the first artist on the lineup, Nonpoint, cancelled.
