Elon University welcomed 102 transfer students to its campus this fall. Kelly Hook, who transferred last fall from Eastern New Mexico University, and Lindsay Arnold, who transferred from the University of Arizona, spoke to The Pendulum about their experiences as non-traditional Elon students and gave their advice for this year's incoming transfer students.

Inside the final meeting: Elon/Appalachian State breakdown

The debate over whether or not Elon University’s final scheduled football clash with Appalachian State University is the end of a rivalry continues to rage. Regardless of stance on the rivalry status of the 42nd meeting between the Phoenix (1-2, 0-0) and Mountaineers (0-2, 0-0), fans from both sides can agree on one thing: their team needs this game. Thanks to a scheduling quirk, both teams are coming off of losses to North Carolina A&T State University, as Appalachian State suffered a 24-21 defeat on Sept.

Elon volleyball cleans up errors, tops Radford in 5 sets

The Elon University volleyball team bested Radford University 3-2 Wednesday, Sept. 19, 3-2 (25-23, 17-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-8), despite letting five errors blow a 23-18 lead in the third set that could have changed the course of the entire match. But the Phoenix recovered by grinding through the fourth set and cruising in the fifth, looking as if the third set didn’t even happen. “The players responded really well,” said Elon coach Mary Tendler.

Colonnades Dining Hall Receives Multiple Health Violations

North Carolina Public Health Inspectors gave Colonnades Dining Hall a health inspection score of 82 on Tuesday, September 17. The 1889 Grill Room was included as a part of Colonnades Dining Hall in the inspection report. Last March, Colonnades Dining Hall received a health inspection score of 96. According to the health inspection report, heavy mold buildup was inside an ice machine and a few dishes stored were found dirty. The inspector also wrote that a Colonnades Dining Hall employee dropped a knife on the floor, picked the knife up and continued food handling duties without washing their hands.

UEFA Champions League back in full swing

The 2013-2014 European season is back and in full swing. This week, the UEFA Champions League will kick off the group stages with 16 mouth-watering matches with the best 32 teams in Europe having been divided into eight groups of four in what will surely be an exciting competition. Last year, the tournament was a roller-coaster of unpredictability starting with defending champions Chelsea failing to make it out of the group stages.
