The DiscoverEU fair brought Elon University freshmen together in Alumni Gym to explore majors and minors offered by different departments.

Freshman Andrew Lawrence said that exploring the fair gives him the opportunity to see what other subjects he’s interested in.

“I'm kind of set on my major, so I'm kind of just looking for an extra thing to kind of put in there, just to specialize, see what I'm into,” Lawrence said.

Organizer of DiscoverEU Kenzie Woody said she hopes this event sparks relationships between students and faculty.

“I hope that students really get to have conversations with a faculty member or a peer representative of that major just to get to know more about the major, what it entails, what that course, curriculum looks like within the major,” Woody said.

The departments weren't the only ones represented at the fair. Woody said other attendees included the Student Professional Development Center, Global Education Center, Elon Experiences and many others.

Woody said she hopes DiscoverEU was a great first introduction to academic advising for new students.

“I really just hope that students come and feel like this was a great event for them to be able to get that academic support,” Woody said.

Woody recruited faculty, staff and students back in December and said the team is what led to the success of the event.
