Former Elon University linebacker Corey Mitchell '16 has transferred to the Division II University of New Haven.

He's listed on the roster posted online Monday.

Mitchell left Elon's program during the summer, and said in July that his intention was to pursue a career in graphic design.

Mitchell led the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) with 116 tackles in 2015, forcing a team-high two fumbles and had seven tackles for loss. His play earned him a nod on the All-CAA Second Team and was named Most Outstanding Defensive Player by the team.

Mitchell had one season of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2012, but he graduated from Elon in May. Three other Elon graduates — offensive lineman Gordon Acha, tight end Jesse Tate and running back Thuc Phan — have also transferred to New Haven.

Former Elon offensive coordinator Chris Pincince is entering his third season as the head coach and offensive coordinator at New Haven. Pincince coached at Elon from 2011-2013, and was part of the coaching staff that recruited all four players to Elon.

The New Haven Chargers play in the Northeast-10 Conference, and their season begins Saturday at Slippery Rock University.
