As many of you know, I’m currently studying abroad on Semester at Sea’s Fall 2014 voyage. We recently left Barcelona, Spain to head for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil — meaning we’ll be spending the next 14 consecutive days at sea.

To make the most of the next two weeks, my Resident Director (SAS’s equivalent of Resident Assistant), Andrew, challenged me and everyone else on my hall to join him in participating in a 14-day wellness challenge.

Andrew created a chart with 10 items (everything from floss to read for 30 minutes to write a postcard to a friend), and the goal is to do each of those items once per day. I adapted his chart to create my own wellness challenge that tailors more to my needs (for instance, I summed up three of his items — cardio, yoga and body weight exercises — into one: exercise).

I’ve included my chart for the first seven days below. I challenge you to adapt the 10 items on my chart to your personal needs and participate in the 14-day challenge with me. Though you won’t be spending the next two weeks at sea, there’s no reason you can’t use this as an opportunity to make your life a little better.

P.S.- Don’t stress out if you can’t complete all 10 items each day. I know I’ve only accomplished 6/10 today. Focus on what you are able to do, and let this be something that makes you feel a little better about yourself — not worse!
