Starting in fall 2015, one student from Alamance Community College will be chosen to receive an annual scholarship of $22,500 that will go toward Elon University tuition, fees, room and board.

Alamance Community College students who will be considered for the scholarship must have at least 24 transferrable credit hours. Preference will be given to students who live in Alamance County.

The scholarship was anonymously donated and is renewable for up to three years. For a student to remain eligible for the award, the recipient must keep a 2.7 cumulative grade point average and remain a full-time student at Elon.

The award will provide financial assistance to students who wish to obtain a four-year degree at Elon.

"Alamance Community College sends transfer students to Elon University annually, and we are pleased to provide financial resources to encourage more students to consider completing their higher education at Elon," Greg Zaiser, vice president for admissions and financial planning, said.

Zaiser added that this award is meant to show the Elon's commitment to Alamance County and it is the first transfer merit scholarship the university has awarded.

Staff from the University's Office of Admissions and Financial Planning will be members of the scholarship selection committee.
