Wednesday, Feb. 5 marked the 2014 edition of one of college football’s most hyped offseason events: National Signing Day.

The day marks the first day current high school seniors are permitted to sign their national letter of intent (NLI) to play college football. New Elon University head football coach Rich Skrosky added 13 new players to the Phoenix roster for the fall 2014 season – 11 new freshmen and a pair of transfers.

DB Chris Blair (5’11”/205 lb – Winston Salem, N.C./East Forsyth HS/Ball State University)

A redshirt freshman who is already enrolled at Elon, Blair follows Skrosky from Ball State University. He was a two-time all-league selection at East Forsyth High School in nearby Winston-Salem.

DL Marquise Wright (6’3”/300 lb – Englewood, N.J./Paramus Catholic HS/Rutgers University)

A transfer from Rutgers, Wright will be a redshirt-junior at Elon. He spent three seasons on the roster of the Scarlet Knights, appearing in two games. Coming out of high school, he was ranked as the No. 31 defensive tackle in the nation.

QB Connor Christiansen (6’/180 lb – Fishers, Ind./Fishers HS)

As a prep player in Fishers, Ind., Christiansen set season program records such as 149 completions to only two interceptions. He finished his high school career with 4,870 passing yards and 46 touchdowns.

LB Bruno Anyangwe (6’/206 lb – Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg HS)

Anyangwe was a first-team all-league and all-county selection during his prep career in Clarksburg, Md.

DL Daniel Everett (6’1”/218 lb – Williamston, N.C./Riverside HS)

Everett, a two-star recruit per Rivals.com, was a two-time all-area and all-league selection during his time at Riverside High School.

WR Tre Lennon (6’3”/165 lb – Greensboro, N.C./Smith HS)

A local recruit from just down the road in Greensboro, Lennon had 48 catches for 798 yards in his senior season. He was an all-conference selection following the season and earned honorable mention for all-area.

DB Cordell Forrest (5’9”/165 lb – Charlotte, N.C./Rocky River HS)

Last year as a senior, Forrest had 57 tackles for Rocky River, along with 17 pass breakups and a pair of interceptions. Those statistics earned him all-league honors while his team advanced to the third round of the playoffs.

OL Olisaemeka Udoh (6’5”/373 lb – Fayetteville, N.C./Sanford HS)

Weighing in at a whopping 373 pounds, Udoh earned second-team all-Cape Fear Region honors. He led his team to the state playoffs in both 2012 and 2013.

DL Josh Armstrong (6’3”/215 lb – Fayetteville, N.C./Sanford HS)

A high school teammate of Udoh, Armstrong is a Rivals.com two-star recruit. He was an all-conference and all-region selection in 2013, along with being a 3A all-state selection. He finished his career with 121 solo tackles and 23 sacks.

LB Jonathan Jackson (6’/200 lb – Moore, SC/Dorman HS)

Jackson had 65 tackles and 14 sacks as a senior at Dorman, which garnered him a berth in the North-South All-Star game. In that game, he had a sack and recovered a fumble. He was a first team all-region selection.

DB Malcolm Galloway (5’10”/191 lb – Norcross, GA/Norcross HS)

Galloway was a two-time player of the week during his senior campaign, one which saw him record 67 tackles and a forced fumble.

TE John Luke Arrington (6’6”/226 lb – Springboro, OH/Springboro HS)

A first-team All-Greater Western Ohio Conference selection, Arrington also collected all-area honors while leading Springboro to a 9-1 record.

DL Anthony Mullis (6’3”/220 – Concord, NC/Central Carrabus)

Another two-star Rivals.com recruit, Mullis was an all-conference pick as a junior and a senior. Mullis was also an all-region and all-county selection.
