Current town of Elon police chief, Cliff Parker, will leave his post to become chief deputy of the Alamance County Sheriff's Office on November 1.

Parker, an Elon College history major and football player, joined the Town of Elon Police Department in 2012 after serving as a patrol officer at the Burlington Police Department and on the State Bureau of Investigation.

In a statement, Sheriff Terry Johnson said, "I worked with Cliff Parker as an agent in the SBI, and came to know him as a tireless worker during investigations."

Parker will make the transition with Chief Deputy Tim Britt around for support.

"I have big shoes to fill," Parker said. "But am looking forward to accepting a new challenge in my law enforcement career.”

Town of Elon Police said they do not have a named replacement for Cliff Parker.
