‘Being first’: Elon’s Black Solidarity Conference hosts first keynote panel

The Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education hosted the 12th annual Black Solidarity Day Conference where students, faculty and staff, and community members gathered together in McKinnon Hall to discuss topics on allyship, anti-racism, anti-black racism, wellness in Black communities, Blackness in a global context, intersectionality in Black communities and socio-political activism.

More than a game: Elon women’s basketball team embraces Black History Month

Elon women's basketball stepped out in their signature black uniforms Feb. 20 in honor of Black History Month for their game against Campbell University. This match not only highlighted two talented teams, but also showcased many Black student organizations and their importance on Elon’s campus. Black Student organizations in attendance included Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; National Council of Negro Women, Inc.; Black Student Union; and African Diaspora of Elon.

Elon University celebrates 100 years of Black history

Students, faculty, staff and members from the Elon Black Alumni Network gathered together for the Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education’s Black History Month Kickoff and Black Table Talk event. Around 100 people united together in the McBride Gathering Space, inside the Truitt Center, to discuss the theme for the night, “History In The Making: Roots, Routes, and Resistance.”
