Elon groups promote safe consumption with mocktail event

Students and faculty spanning across age groups, workforce positions and experiences joined together Sept. 9 to enjoy mocktail drinks around the patio of Lakeside Dining. SPARKS, or Students Promoting Awareness, Responsibility, Knowledge and Success, joined Peer Educators, Phoenix Free and Elon Dining to host the event. Phoenix Free supports students who want to be substance-free or have had negative substance experiences in the past.

Town of Elon, Gibsonville, Elon Campus Police assist in robbery investigation

There was a heavy police presence at the Citgo gas station on West Haggard Avenue in Elon around 2:40 p.m. on Sept. 9. Nine police cars were on the scene, including Town of Elon Police, Elon Campus Police and Gibsonville police. Police surrounded one vehicle, which according to Town of Elon police was tracked by a Burlington Police drone. Town of Elon police told Elon News Network the vehicle that was pulled over was tracked by a Burlington drone. That information was passed to Gibsonville and Town of Elon Police by the Burlington Police Department.
