Young abusers

An interesting article from CNN is about bullying - but not from the perspective we're used to. This piece was about the bully, not the bullied. (Personal aside: I don't know how I feel about the "he/his/him" pronoun being used in this piece, though.

Hypocrisy wreaks havoc on innocent believers

Pastor Eddie Long allegedly coerced a 15-year-old into sex on a trip to Africa. He denied allegations from three other men, along with the one mentioned above. Apparently the pastor attempted to tell the young men that his attentions were unique, and special - he tried to tell them that they should appreciate what attentions were being bestowed upon them. The initial accuser first met the Pastor in Charlotte, North Carolina. Eddie Long has been vocal about his stance against homosexuality. This story is quite similar to the story of Tye Tribbet, a Gospel singer who had an affair with a woman in his traveling performer group.

I hope to become a bit more pro-active about not being overly anxious about the end of the world, but it's news like this that completely throw me for a loop! Oh and hello. Sorry - I neglected to acknowledge the start of a new school year, and the beginning of new opportunities to read this blog!

'Hey, hey, hey'

Sam Calvert While I might not be the avid Washington Redskins fan like several others here on staff, I am a football fan, and thus my attentions have turned to defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth this off season.

The circus

I wasn’t going to post about this. I didn’t want to give it any more publicity than it already has — which is over-the-top. But I can’t resist. Something needs to be said about the LeBron James move to the Miami Heat.

World Cup provides inspiration for all

Pam Richter Since the World Cup kicked off more than a week ago, there has been talk about the controversial call for the Americans, Spain being upset in its first game, the self-destruction of the French and of course, the horns being sounded throughout the games, the vuvuzelas. While the vuvuzelas seem to be getting the most attention out of any of the storylines at the World Cup in South Africa, let's put that debate aside just for a few moments and focus on the real purpose of the World Cup - an international sporting event at its finest. The World Cup takes place every four years and sets out to find the best soccer team in the world. And ultimately, when all the games are over, a new champion of soccer will be crowned.
