Burlington Animal Services hosts February adoption event

Burlington Animal Services, located on Stone Quarry Road, is hosting a February adoption event centered around Valentine’s Day from Feb. 4 to 25. Any dog or cat can be adopted for $14.

‘The Bachelor’ debuts 27th season, bonds Elon University students

On Elon University’s campus, a community has grown around the number of ‘The Bachelor’ viewers, and has only grown with the premiere of its 27th season Jan. 23, where tech executive Zach Shallcross, 26, is the leading man. Shallcross had his television debut on Season 19 of ABC’s ‘The Bachelorette’ with Rachel Recchia.

Elon University students, faculty react to TikTok bans on college campuses

The popular video creating and sharing platform TikTok was banned from both the University of Texas at Austin and Auburn University in December. According to an article from Bloomberg, security risks such as cyberspying and collecting personal information from devices caused college administration to ban the mobile app on campus wifi.

Jan. 20 marks the debut of the play “The Inferior Sex,” written by Jacqueline E. Lawton, associate professor in the Department of Dramatic Art at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Elon University prepares for Panhellenic Association Formal Recruitment

For the first time since January 2020, Elon University will be holding formal recruitment for its nine Panhellenic Association sororities fully in person. Recruitment in 2022 was hybrid due to COVID-19 and was fully virtual and held during the spring semester in 2021 for the same reason. Registration for recruitment was open to undergraduate full-time female students from Nov. 28 to Jan. 9. The final number of women registered for recruitment was declined to be shared with Elon News Network by Panhellenic Association adviser Alexis Swider.

Elon University charters first Asian-interest sorority

After working for more than three years to get a bid to charter a chapter on campus, Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. is now officially the first Asian-interest sorority at Elon University. The organization was formerly the interest group known as EMPRESS— Elon Maintaining Pan-Asian Respect, Equity and Social Service.
