Tuesday is Winter Term exam day for undergraduate and some graduate programs at Elon University. The gap in time from Jan. 25 to the start of spring semester classes Jan. 30 is often referred to as Fake Break by the campus community. 

Also during Fake Break, the university’s Panhellenic Association will hold formal recruitment Jan. 24 to 29. 

Despite changes with some campus operations, a couple of 24/7 services will remain available during this time. Campus Safety & Police can be contacted at 336-278-5555 and on-call crisis counselors can be contacted at 336-278-2222. SAFEline is also available at 336-278-3333 and can assist with identity-based bias, sexual violence or interpersonal violence. 

TimelyCare is available to students anywhere in the United States 24/7 throughout break. 

University offices will remain open this week, but some campus services will have adjusted hours.

Residence Halls and University Apartments

Residence halls and university apartments will remain open and operate during its regular weekday business hours. Move-in and check-in for new freshmen and transfer students is Jan. 28 to 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the neighborhood offices. 

Campus Parking 

Students can leave their cars during break. Vehicles must be left in their respective lots. The university encourages students to take precaution and lock their vehicles before any university break. 

COVID-19 Testing

Asymptomatic COVID-19 testing will continue through Jan. 31 in McCoy Commons in the Oaks Neighborhood. 

Belk Library 

Hours will remain the same as normal. The library will close at 9 p.m. Jan. 27 and will be open Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Jan. 29, the library will open at 10 a.m. and will resume overnight hours for Phoenix Card holders.

Transportation

The Elon Express Haggard Avenue route and the Danieley Tram will operate on a reduced schedule Jan. 25 to 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Routes resume normal operations Monday. 

Counseling Services

Services will remain as normal. Appointments can be made for weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Dining and Mail Services 

Fall meal plans end Jan. 25 and spring ones begin Jan. 28. McEwen Dining Hall will be open for brunch Jan. 25 to 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. for dinner. 

Mail Services will remain open Jan. 25 to 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be closed Jan. 29. 

Moseley Center

The Moseley Center will be open Jan. 24 to 27 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Jan. 28 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Jan. 29 from 8 a.m. to midnight.

Student Health Services

Student Health will operate on limited hours Jan. 25 to 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and resume normal operations Jan. 28 and 29 and be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
