Academic Advising apologizes after disclosing some students’ federally protected information

The office of Academic Advising has apologized for disclosing federally protected student information. The office sent an email to students considered “at risk” during midterm evaluations, failing to blind copy recipients in a mass email.

Judge rules against ACE Speedway, sides with state orders

ACE Speedway must abide by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services abatement order. Judge Tom Lambeth ruled in favor of Mandy Cohen, secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and NCDHHS today in their case against ACE Speedway.

ACE Speedway temporarily shut down by the state

Jason and Robert Turner, owners of ACE Speedway in Altamahaw, opened for their first race since October on May 23, after Gov. Roy Cooper initiated Phase 2 of reopening North Carolina amid the coronavirus pandemic. ACE Speedway is 8.1 miles away from the center of Elon University.

Sydney Hallisey takes on the position of SGA executive secretary, following a candidate-less election

Junior Sydney Hallisey was hesitant to run for executive secretary of the Student Government Association, but with the seat left vacant, she was appointed into the role. Hallisey was appointed to the role by Executive President Robbie Miley and approved by the senate in a 17-0 vote at their virtual meeting on April 9.

Students participating in Semester at Sea disembark early

Yom Hashoa shines awareness on anti-semitism

Students, faculty, and staff gathered around the Moseley Center on Wednesday, May 1 to read the names of those who died during the Holocaust in honor of Yom Hashoah. Yom Hashoah is the Holocaust day of remembrance for the Jewish Community. It was started in 1953 and has grown to be an international day of remembrance. Multiple professors and students are in charge of the three events happening on May 1 and 2.
