Five weeks. Five weeks is the amount of time I have left as a student at Elon University. There are seven months until I walk across the stage under the oaks with the rest of my class. At the start of this last semester, I anxiously started a countdown to Dec. 10. That is the date of my last and final exam, marking the end of my Elon career.

Following a pedestrian accident in Peru Oct. 22, junior Ben Bridges is in "stable but serious" condition after undergoing surgery, according to several emails sent out to campus organizations he's involved in. Bridges is studying abroad in the South American country this semester.

It comes as no surprise that Elon University’s fraternity and sorority community is at a crossroads. For a couple of years now, we have torn each other down with pointless Yaks and rumors. We have thrown each other under the bus by abusing recruitment infractions and ranking one another on Greek Rank (don’t act like you’ve never been on there). We have continued to support and be passive bystanders when it comes to the negative actions and opinions of our brothers and sisters.

Led by the early drop-out of former Sen. Jim Webb and propelled by a “no” from Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic competition for the 2016 presidency has been halved in a work-week’s time. The narrowing of the field could actually hurt front-runner Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State, in the long run, according to an expert from the Elon University Poll.

As you all know, last week’s school shooting at the Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, was just the latest of several mass murders this year of Americans by American gunmen and approximately the 200th since 2006 in this country. As with every such horrific act of brutality, all of the United States weeps and condemns it, including the President of the United States.

During the spring 2015 semester, Elon University’s Student Union Board (SUB) collaborated with Dining Services to launch a new event: Food Truck Frenzy.
Five food trucks parked in the temporary parking lot behind Belk Library and
served a variety of foods, from dumplings to ice cream to gourmet baked
potatoes.
