After defying the odds, one dancer now helping others

Dee Evans, a clinical pharmacist in Burlingon, helped raise more than $250,000 at a gala for Little Pink Houses of Hope this earlier month. But six years ago, she went through a crisis of her own: Evans was diagnosed with pneumococcal meningitis. Proper blood flow did not reach her legs and she was faced with two options: amputate both legs or have them reconstructed and live in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.

Hysteria erupts over reports of late-night clown sighting, police say no actual clown reported

Elon University’s campus was briefly gripped by panic late Monday night as reports of a clown sighting spread from student to student. University Police and Town of Elon police confirmed that they never received any actual calls reporting a clown or any other suspicious person.

Protests continue in Charlotte for second night
