Energetic music echoed throughout Global Neighborhood as the Elon University class of 2030 arrived on campus the morning of Aug. 21.

Jackson Tremblay from New Hampshire said he is feeling prepared for the year ahead and has been anticipating moving into his new dorm.

“I’m excited, it’s gonna be a great year and what better place to do it than at Elon,” Tremblay said.

Sarah Nmashie from Charlotte said she felt tired from her early drive, but she was looking forward to joining clubs and enjoying student life at Elon.

“I brought a lot of clothes and some stuff for my cat, Niecy,” Nmashie said

Jack Cooney from Duxbury, Massachusetts, was already getting to know his roommate and hoping to play club soccer in the fall.

“I think I’m most looking forward to a new environment, meeting new people,” Cooney said. “It’s a big difference down here in North Carolina, but I’m excited.”

Najé Grey from Burlington was thinking about the year ahead, wanting to join the Student Government Association, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and work as a leadership ambassador.

“I’m excited to experience what it’s like to actually go here for college,” Grey said. “I was in Elon Academy so I took classes here over the summer, but now I’m actually a student here.”

Erika McHenry from Gastonia, North Carolina, helped her daughter move into the Health Sciences Living Learning Community, and said that this is her last time moving one of her kids into college.

“I’m excited for her, but also bittersweet, ask me about it tomorrow,” McHenry said with a chuckle.
