In-person meetings for undergraduate and graduate classes on Feb. 3 are canceled, Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley announced in an email Feb. 2.
Dooley wrote that out of an abundance of caution, the university will have one more day of canceled in-person class meetings and office closures. The university is currently planning for university operations to resume on schedule Feb. 4.
Law and graduate program directors will communicate directly with students, faculty, and staff about class meetings for Law and graduate students, as well as facility operations for the Francis Center and the Greensboro and Charlotte campus locations, according to the email.
The cancellation comes after a winter storm on Jan. 31 that swept across the state. Dooley wrote that Facilities Management crews have done incredible work cleaning up from what is considered a significant snowstorm for this area. He again advised students that caution is encouraged, especially on steps and stairs or elevated surfaces. Black ice will continue to be a problem on roadways overnight and into the morning.
According to the announcement, students should check with instructors for further information about alternative plans, which could include the option for online meetings during the scheduled class time, out-of-class activities, readings or other assignments.
Students should park only in the lot where their vehicle is assigned. There should be no student parking in Faculty/Staff lots, even during evening hours, Dooley wrote.
University offices are closed Feb. 3 except for Belk Library, Campus Recreation and Moseley Center. Dining halls will be open on Feb. 3. Mail Services will be closed Feb. 3. Student Health Services will open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additionally, Elon Express Shuttles will not operate on Feb. 3.
