Updated 2:00 p.m. Jan. 15 to include information from an email from Information Technology.
Elon Campus Safety and Police sent out an E-alert at 4:59 a.m on Jan. 15 stating that phone services are down.
The notification stated that if people can’t reach the Elon Campus Safety and Police, they can call 336-213-9769 or 911 in case of emergencies.
Elon Information Technology sent a follow-up email at 6:01 a.m. stating that due to a cut fiber cable with its vendor, Elon is currently unable to receive calls to campus phones from off-campus callers.
It also states that outbound calls and internal calls are not affected.
In the alert, IT said it is closely monitoring the situation.
Information Technology sent an update email at 1:45 p.m. that stated the issues with incoming calls to campus phones are in the process of being resolved.
IT said it will continue to monitor the repairs and send updates if any problems arise.
