College students and Burlington residents filled the Harris Teeter located off of South Church Street for the store’s College Night on Sept. 3.

The store, which is an 8-minute drive away from campus, celebrated college students with a live DJ, discounts on gas, food samples and a 20% discount on groceries.

Elon senior Emily Dvorak said she enjoyed seeing Elon students at the event.

“It was really cool to see everybody get together and see all the Elon students that came together,” Dvorak said.

Harris Teeter’s mascot, Harry the Happy Dragon, danced around Harris Teeter College Night wearing Elon University merchandise on Sept. 3.

Alongside the discounts and DJ, the event also had branding teams selling their products, such as Celsius, which was something Harris Teeter employee Luna Martinez was excited about.

Martinez said she was also excited to see the turnout for the event, especially because it’s the first College Night she’s worked.

“It just brings a lot of people together,” Martinez said. “Since I’ve just been working here I'm pretty new, and I wasn't expecting this.”

Dvorak also said she was excited to go to College Night and step outside of Elon’s campus.

“It's a great way to show that Elon isn't necessarily just tied to the Elon campus,” Dvorak said. “We do participate in the community, and the community hopefully likes us.”
