Elon University celebrated its 12th annual Elon Day on March 6, with a series of events and opportunities designed to engage the campus community and alumni worldwide. Highlights of the day included a special edition of the university's tradition College Coffee and a comedy performance by Joe Gatto.
According to the Elon Day website, Elon raised the most money in Elon Day history, with over $3.1 million and a total of 6,385 gifts.
Elon Day serves as a cornerstone for the university’s philanthropic efforts, encouraging donors to support areas of campus that resonate personally with them. Contributions could be directed toward scholarships, academic departments, student organizations, athletics programs and more. The event features numerous “Challenges and Matches” throughout the day to inspire generosity and amplify the impact of donations.
Junior and member of Phoenix Give Back Leann Beckham expressed her appreciation for Elon Day, emphasizing its role in fostering a culture of gratitude within the university community.
“It encapsulates what Elon is all about—giving back to the community,” Beckham said. “It gives back what Elon gives to us, all the many resources and opportunities they have.”
Beckham also highlighted the tangible benefits of Elon Day contributions, particularly in relation to scholarships.
“For me personally, Elon Day and the donors really support a lot of the scholarships I get,” Beckham said.
For donors like Robin Brown, an accounting assistant at the university, Elon Day represents the essence of Elon's values.
“It shows what Elon stands for: support, love and caring for our community and our students,” Brown said.
The Elon Day leaderboard, which tracks the areas receiving the highest number of gifts, adds a spirit of competition to the event.
