A first-year female student, Gabriela Rosales, was hit by a gray Toyota Camry on North Williamson Avenue tonight, outside of The Oaks Apartments and McCrary Theater. Rosales was airlifted to UNC Hospitals by the UNC Air Care helicopter.

According to Alamance County Communications, Elon Police and emergency vehicles responded to a call around 7:55 p.m. They arrived to the scene and closed down that portion of N. Williamson both directions around 8:00 p.m.

The driver of the Toyota Camry, Pat Madren, was traveling south on N. Williamson when she struck Rosales.

According to eyewitnesses and reporters on the scene, the student was breathing, but unconscious.

As of 9:05 p.m., the scene of the accident had yet to clear, with N. Williamson being closed in both directions.
