A gas leak reported at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, caused the shutdown of Lakeside Dining Hall. Elon Dining said all connections to the gas line were immediately cut off, and impacted Moseley Center, the Global Neighborhood and Koury Athletic Center.

Physical Plant fixed the gas leak just before 12:30 p.m., but Elon Dining said it will not reopen for lunch this afternoon, due to inability to prepare food. Elon Dining plans to reopen Lakeside Dining Hall at 5 p.m. for dinner.

This is the second issue this week concerning Elon Dining. On Friday, Nov. 7, Varsity Sports Grill, Chick-Fil-A and McEwen Dining Hall were all shut down during the lunchtime rush due to issues with the hot water, according to Elon Dining.

A representative from the Alamance County Department of Public Health was on scene at Lakeside Dining Hall, completing a health inspection when this gas leak occurred. Results from the health inspection should be available later this afternoon. Elon Local News will provide updates as they become available.
