Elon University's opening this morning has been pushed back until 10:00 a.m., according to an email sent by Smith Jackson, vice president of student life.  In a separate announcement made via its web site, the Elon University School of Law will also open at 10:00 a.m. today.

Winter Term classes orientally meeting at 8:30 a.m. will now be held from from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Afternoon classes are not affected.

The closings are a result of a dangerous layer of snow and ice coating sidewalks and roads since the precipitation began last night. Less than an inch of snow and ice accumulated in the Elon area, but temperatures in the 20s and 10 mph winds have made conditions dangerous for drivers and walkers alike.

The following campus venues and services will open at 8:30 a.m.: Moseley Center, Danieley Tram and shuttle services.

Belk Library will remain open all night. Lakeside will open at 7 a.m. as planned. All other campus venues will open at 10:00 a.m.

All emergency personnel, according to the email, are required to report to campus by 8:00 a.m., but all other university employees should plan for the delayed opening time.
