The Elon University football program has announced its 2014 conference schedule, which will be its first as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

Elon's first matchup in the CAA will come at home Oct. 4 when the Phoenix welcome the University of New Hampshire to Rhodes Stadium.

After going on the road to play the University of Delaware Oct. 11, Elon will have back-to-back home games against Stony Brook University and University of Richmond on Oct. 18 and 25, respectively.

Three of Elon's final four CAA games in 2014 will be played on the road. The stretch starts Nov. 1 against Towson University and continues Nov. 8 against the College of William & Mary.

The final conference home game will come Nov. 15 against the University of Maine before Elon finishes the season Nov. 22 against James Madison University.

The other league members Elon will not face in 2014 are the University of Albany, the University of Rhode Island and Villanova University.

Elon has taken on Richmond four times in program history, which is the most Elon has played any CAA team. The Phoenix have taken on Towson three times while playing Stony Brook and James Madison twice.

The nonconference slate includes a rematch of Elon's season opener in 2010 when Elon travels to Durham, N.C. to take on Duke University Aug. 30. The Phoenix lost 41-27 to the Blue Devils in 2010.

The home opener for the Phoenix will come after a bye week Sept. 13 against North Carolina A&T State University. This season, Elon fell to the Aggies, 23-10, in Greensboro, N.C.

The following week, the Phoenix plays host to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Sept. 20. The 49ers are in their first season of competition this year and are 4-5 this season. They have two games remaining on the season. Charlotte has competed as an FCS Independent. They will join the FBS level with Conference-USA in 2015. They will become bowl eligible in 2016.

Elon will play its final non-conference game of the season on the road at Coastal Carolina University Sept. 27. In 2013, the Phoenix lost to Coastal Carolina 53-28 at home. The Phoenix scored 28 first-half points against the Chanticleers, but failed to score in the second half.
