A select group of Elon University cross country runners competed at the Three Stripe Invitational at N.C. State’s WakeMed cross country course Saturday, Nov. 9, in Raleigh, N.C.

For the men, junior Adam Bernstein finished first for the Phoenix coming in seventh place with a time of 15:41.07 in the 5K race. Freshman Ian O'Leary was the next runner to finish for the Phoenix in 16th place with a time of 15:50.35. Senior James Stevenson (20th, 16:08.25), sophomore Reed Payne (24th, 16:21.68) and sophomore Ryan Gwaltney (26th, 16:39.03) rounded out the lineup for the Elon. The men’s team finished fourth overall, with Duke University taking the men’s crown.

On the women’s side, senior Jackie Madden finished in sixth with a time of 19:01.18 in the final race of her career. The Phoenix took ninth through 12th occupied by senior Brennan McDavid (19:09.25), sophomore Sabina Bains (19:20.47), junior Kaitlin Stober (19:21.20), and senior Kylie Womack (19:23.15).

Sophomore Emily Dunne (14th, 19:27.02), senior Erin Macbeth (17th, 19:58.58), senior Amanda Parker (18th, 10:06.33), and senior Ellie Taff (19th, 20:31.00) rounded out the Elon women’s lineup.

The women finished second overall, but like in the men's race, Duke took home the meet victory.

The Phoenix will now compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 15, in Charlottesville, Va.
