It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

Time to upgrade to venti because every day until December is now pumpkin spiced. Time to hurry up and decide what animal ears go best with that mini dress. Time for Wal-Mart to start stocking the shelves with Christmas lights.

It’s the month of October and so begins the countdown towards the most anticipated holiday on any college campus – Halloween.

If you decide to take a night off from the late night festivities to come, here is a list of Halloween 2013’s top five most relevant thrillers and horror films.

5. 1976’s “Carrie,” is Stephan King’s tale of teenage angst, religious fanaticism and supernatural payback. Watch it before the remake hits theaters this month.

4.  Or you may decide to venture out to theaters to experience “Insidious 2.” The much anticipated film is a follow-up to 2011’s first installment, which has become a minor cult classic. This simple, fun thrill-ride is bound to have popcorn flying.

3.American Horror Story” may not be a feature film, but make it a marathon night! The third season, entitled “Coven,” just premiered. Each season is a separate story, drawing inspiration from the darkest corners of American folklore.

2.Stoker” is director Chan Wook Park’s stylized, psychological nightmare, which centers on a disturbed girl and the mystery surrounding her father’s death in upper-class New England society. Nicole Kidman’s portrayal of the family’s matriarch steals the show.

1.The Shining” is Stanley Kubrick’s interpretation of Stephen King’s most famous horror story. King recently released “Doctor Sleep,” a sequel to the original novel.
