The Nobel Peace Prize Well apparently anyone can win it, even if his or her so called "accomplishments" are represented only in a phrase and not by action.
And I'll be the first to admit it. I was never fond of his books, his characters on SNL were amusing, but never gratuitously hilarious, and I thought that the same warmed-over smarmy attitude would be ill fit for the Senate, regardless of whether he won the election fairly or not. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txx4EpMXX4M] Which he didn't, by the way, if you agree with Bill O'Riley. But Franken has done a fabulous job winning over, starting with his solid line of questioning with Justice Sonia Sotomayor (though it was a bit cheesy), continuing with his excellent filmed debate with his own constituents regarding health care, in which he only revealed his pretentious liberal side a few times, and then subsequently apologized for it while defending his viewpoint and perhaps swaying a few opponents. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCNs7Zpqo98] Watch this, it's pretty enlightening.
I'm sorry, but the Politico headline "ACORN: Congress cannot hurt us," amused me to no end. There's an article there somewhere, but I couldn't help but just think of this:
Surprise, surprise. Hollywood is starting to think that maybe tossing gajillions of dollars at pet projects and stupid star vehicles isn't so much of a good idea.
Shake off those cobwebs, it's time for the blog to get back into action again. Now if only I could find that ignition switch...ah, here it is.

During the halftime show of the Elon vs. Wake Forest game, fans got a surprise when the band walked out on the field.
With just under five minutes to go in the first half, Wake Forest's wide receiver Devon Brown appeared to fumble the ball after a pass from quarterback Riley Skinner, but the fumble was ruled after Brown was down, meaning there would be no turnover. Before the snap, however, the official stopped play and declared, "The previous play is under review." Instant replay is a common thing in the National Football League, but it has only become common in college football in the past year. There have always been things that could be reviewed, such as the placement of a ball.
Rookie linebacker Aaron Curry, former member of the Demon Deacon's football squad, made his first career start in the National Football League for the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday.

The theme: "We're tired of being marble-mouthed and mildly dreary.
Look, I get it. I'm racist, you're racist, the GOP is racist, Obama is racist, Twitter's racist...perhaps we're all, as Avenue Q informed us, a little bit racist. In fact, I think it's pretty safe to say that everything is racist.
That he is. For example, he's made a real difference in my sleep patterns, as terrifying visions of the exploits he detailed to a chap next to him (don't actually click this, you don't want to know what Duvall does in his spare time) have kept me clutching my pillows in fear of stairway-induced leakage. But his tales of such minor indiscretions such as, say, having sexual relations with a series of lobbyists with little regard for his wife or the whole, "Hey, you might not want to have sex with people trying to persuade you to do things," tenant of government, weren't true! No sir, for as you can read on his amazing one-page website... "I want to make it clear that my decision to resign is in no way an admission that I had an affair or affairs. My offense was engaging in inappropriate story-telling and I regret my language and choice of words.
