A behind-the-scenes look at the planning and preparation that goes into setting up for graduation

For families, the Elon University commencement ceremony begins promptly at 9:15 a.m. For graduates, the call time for lineup is 7:45 a.m. For some Physical Plant and Aramark employees, chairs start getting wiped down and coffee starts brewing at 4:30 a.m. But for others, commencement and all the preparation that goes into it, began right after Spring Convocation.

Elon University’s Class of 2021’s statistics resemble the Class of 2020’s in almost every category except one — the number of applicants. Admissions received 10,098 last year compared to 9,622 this year. But Elon still managed to enroll more students. Fifteen more students enrolled this year instead of last year. Every other statistic —including test scores, states of origin and gender ratio — are virtually identical.
