Elon Community Garden hosts 14th Strawberry Festival

North Carolina House proposed bill to ban nearly all abortions

Elon University Dining hosts Earth Fest

Elon University held its annual Earth Fest Thursday as part of Earth Week, drawing in the community with free food, local vendors and university organizations. Students, faculty and the local community had chances to learn about environmentally friendly, sustainable living. Held on Medallion Plaza, there was something for everyone.

Elon students call for chess club after popularity increases

Sophomore Nic Boinet’s love for chess started with the lessons from his late grandfather when he was seven years old. Boinet said even though he never beat his grandfather in chess, his love for the strategy game developed quickly.

Elon University Moseley Student Center closes sections due to flooding

A rusted pipe in the second floor universal bathroom of the Moseley Student Center caused chaos Thursday afternoon when water flooded out of the bathroom. The water flooded the bathroom and upstairs hallway including inside the Center for Leadership office for about fifteen minutes until maintenance could shut the pipe off.

Bed Bath & Beyond to close in Burlington, other North Carolina stores

 Bed Bath & Beyond will close its doors to the Burlington community April 8. The store is one of five North Carolina locations to end its retail operations in the state — the other locations include Raleigh, Gastonia, Greenville and Hickory. The chain is set to close in more than 280 locations across the nation in the coming months.

Visiting artist shares personal growth, loss with Elon University community

Media artist Katina Bitsicas visited Elon University Feb. 6 to showcase personal loss of a loved one through grief and growth titled ‘In Memoriam’ through video, photography and an Instagram account. The showcase memorialized her father who passed away from Mantle Cell Lymphoma during the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘The Bachelor’ debuts 27th season, bonds Elon University students

On Elon University’s campus, a community has grown around the number of ‘The Bachelor’ viewers, and has only grown with the premiere of its 27th season Jan. 23, where tech executive Zach Shallcross, 26, is the leading man. Shallcross had his television debut on Season 19 of ABC’s ‘The Bachelorette’ with Rachel Recchia.

Elon University students, faculty react to TikTok bans on college campuses

The popular video creating and sharing platform TikTok was banned from both the University of Texas at Austin and Auburn University in December. According to an article from Bloomberg, security risks such as cyberspying and collecting personal information from devices caused college administration to ban the mobile app on campus wifi.

Elon University alumni of all ages came back to campus to celebrate the annual Homecoming tailgate on the Lake Mary Nell promenade Nov. 5. Tents for each class reunion held multiple families and friends, as well as different student organizations handling food for the event.

Elon University's Innovation Quad continues to impress 2 months in

Located beside the McMichael Science Center, the Innovation Quad opened its doors in August as a hub for both studying and bringing new engineering resources to Elon. Within its facilities, the building contains Founders Hall, Hunt Atrium, the Advanced Prototype Lab and many other classrooms and study spaces where students can collaborate effectively.

Held on the first floor of Belk Library, students were invited to Writing Isn’t Scary, where they had friendly discussions about what scares them about writing.
