Over 2,000 students voted in the SGA elections for the 2025-26 school year, only 28% of the student body. A higher turnout from last year's election which saw only 1,308 ballots cast. Anya Bratic was elected student body president with 1,382 votes. Sammy Azua was elected executive vice president with 1,082 votes compared to Morgan Minoff’s 838 votes.

At Medallion Plaza, an emotional Bratic expressed her gratitude for the campaigning process and those who voted for her.

“I’m so grateful for all the voters,” Bratic said. “It’s been such an emotional race, you put so much energy and thought into the whole campaigning process.”

In the election, three semi-finalists were chosen for senior class commencement speaker: Craig Brandstetter, Drew Fetterolf and Marques Walker. The three semi-finalists will share their speeches with a selection committee who will make recommendations to Elon University President Connie Book.

Walker said he is excited to be part of the final three and committed to sharing what the past four years at Elon have meant to him with his speech. If chosen, he wants to use his speech to not only resonate with his fellow graduates but everyone who has supported them in their four years of college.

There are a total of 11 vacant seats on the SGA board.

Elizabeth Shum was elected class of 2027 president, and Jonathan Mushi was elected class of 2028 president.

Mushi reflected on the campaign and his goals in his next term — building connections across the grade and creating more awareness about SGA on campus.

“In any campaign you’re a little nervous about what you’re doing wrong, what you’re doing good. It’s very nerve-racking and on top of that being a student,” Mushi said. “I definitely want to put together more events to bring our class together, but just trying to create a better atmosphere for feedback and create more awareness about SGA.”

Bratic’s campaign platform was built on three B’s: building, bridging and belonging. She hopes to implement these three B’s to become a visible leader on campus for students. She said she hopes to be a connector on campus for students.

“I want to be somebody who is seen by the student body as a strong visible leader,” Bratic said. “I want to be a connector between students and administrators, I want to connect students to resources that they may not know about.”
