The Elon men’s tennis team lost its second straight match falling to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro 5-2 on Tuesday, April 9 after winning it’s first seven matches in Southern Conference play. The Phoenix dropped the doubles point to start the match dropping two out of the three matches.

Freshman James Dougherty and sophomore Randy Phillips defeated junior Cameron Silverman and sophomore Stefan Fortmann 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Sophomores Juan Madrid and Jordan Kaufman defeated sophomore Cameron Smith and freshman Gaston Murray 8-4 at No. 3 singles.

Madrid made the match 3-2 with his 6-0, 6-4 win over Smith at No. 6 singles.

The Phoenix have a quick turnaround as they now travel to Boone to take on Appalachian State University. The contest will be the last match in the regular season for the Phoenix before the SoCon tournament to be hosted at Elon on April 18-21.
