Former Elon University quarterback Scott Riddle was arrested Saturday, Nov. 19, for "assualt on a government official and resisting a public officer," according to The Courier-Tribune of Asheboro, N.C.

According to the story on The Courier-Tribune's website and an Asheboro Police report, Riddle, 23, and Caitlyn Prestwood were found unresponsive in Riddle's truck at 3 a.m., which was parked in a random driveway in Asheboro.

After being woken up by police and advised to call his mother to pick him up, Riddle became angry and charged officer G. Routh multiple times.  He was ordered to stop but resisted, leading officer R. Kindley to spray him in the face with pepper spray.

Riddle was then taken to Randolph County Jail and given a $500 bond, according to The Courier-Tribune.

Riddle, who played at Elon from 2007- 2010, holds several Elon and Southern Conference records.  He is the SoCon's career record holder in passing yards and touchdowns (105) and became the first quarterback in SoCon history to lead the league in passing yards in four consecutive seasons. He was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the best player in the FCS, three of his four years at Elon.

He spent four days with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars this August before being cut from the team.
