Elon University's Director of Campus Safety and Police, Dennis Franks, is resigning, according to an email sent to faculty and staff by Gerald Whittington, senior vice president for business, finance and technology.
After serving 22 years in the police field, Chief Franks will take a job at Bank of America as vice president of protective services.
Major Doug Dotson will serve as the interim director of campus safety and police until a new chief is named.
Franks' last day will be May 31.
